Indianapolis Colleges for Adults Network - About Us
ICAN was established in 2003, as an association of area public and private colleges and universities that caters to the educational needs of working adults. ICAN serves as an educational resource to the corporate community, as well as the community-at-large, by providing increased awareness of accredited, business-related higher education opportunities for working adults in the Indianapolis metropolitan area, primarily through education fairs. All ICAN members are accredited through the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Last year, ICAN hosted over 35 educational fairs through out the Indianapolis metropolitan community. These fairs included: Anthem (Wellpoint), Marsh, Brighthouse Networks, IRS, Carmel Chamber, National City Bank, Cinergy, PSI, Safe Co, Conseco, Sallie Mae, Eli Lilly, Sensient, Flavors, Fifth Third Bank, St. Francis Hospital, Hewlett Packard, and Wishard Hospital. Through our education fairs we provide a variety of associate, bachelor, masters, and doctorial programs.
Each of the ICAN institutions offers something unique to its students; therefore, they have combined to assist businesses and organizations with providing information regarding higher educational opportunities for working adults in the Indianapolis area. Some courses are traditional classroom setting, while other institutions may offer access to courses by distance learning modes including Internet, 2-way television, videotape, and written correspondence.
Working adults have a need to continue to build their professional skills in order to remain valuable to employers. ICAN members can assist working adults in designing a personal plan to achieve their higher educational goals. |
